It was a tough call picking out the winner - not only did I have to consider the quality of the remixes I also had to consider the ways in which they fit into the upcoming album.<br />
<br />
Which is on it's way out. This coming fall.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876556047559378836.post-85682262980191199882011-02-27T12:18:00.000-08:002011-04-27T10:35:25.749-07:00Remix CompetitionI have recently heard some interest about remixing of one of my most recent tracks, <a href="http://soundcloud.com/the-evolution/my-broken-window">My Broken Window</a>. So, I decided to start a remix competition. The winning track will be featured on this site and may be included on the album that My Broken Window will be released on (and -if not- the winning track will definitely be released on an album of remixes in the near future). I have uploaded all of the individual track files (stripped of panning, fader, EQ and compression for the ease of the remixer) as well as my finished wave to filesavr <a href="http://www.filesavr.com/TSX2ET58LMGGJP0">here</a>. You'll have to change the filename from image.jpg to image.zip in order to open the file. Alternatively, you can download it from filehosting <a href="http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/223597/My_Broken_Window_Tracks.zip">here</a>. However, you will need an email address.<br />
<div><br />
</div><div>Just some information about rights. This song is copyrighted under Creative Commons Attribution, Non-Commercial, Share Alike. Essentially, you can send this song (and the component tracks) to everyone that you know, do three hundred remixes, feature it in your youtube video - whatever you want, really. As long as you do not profit from my work, attribute it to me, and share any derivative works under the same license. Thats that. </div><div><br />
</div><div>Anyway. Good luck. I look forward to hearing your submissions. Please upload the waves to soundcloud using this <a href="http://soundcloud.com/the-evolution/dropbox/profile">form</a>. If I choose your track to win I will contact you via soundcloud and ask you to send me the full wave (as soundcloud compresses anything uploaded to it). The contest will end June 21st.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876556047559378836.post-70744687859429210722010-10-11T15:27:00.000-07:002010-10-11T15:36:56.472-07:00all our toastersnow available for download from <a href="http://soundcloud.com/the-evolution/01-all-our-toasters">soundcloud</a><br /><br />by gazmehd, a subsidiary of the evolution of both.<br /><br /><a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/"><img alt="Creative Commons License" style="border-width: 0pt;" src="http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-nc-sa/3.0/88x31.png" /></a><br /><span dct="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" href="http://purl.org/dc/dcmitype/Sound" property="dct:title" rel="dct:type">All our Toasters</span> by <a cc="http://creativecommons.org/ns#" href="http://theevolutionofboth.blogspot.com/" property="cc:attributionName" rel="cc:attributionURL">Gazmehd</a> is licensed under a <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/">Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License</a>.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876556047559378836.post-90521185470952212982010-05-30T15:48:00.001-07:002010-06-07T22:04:13.067-07:00A Momentary (single)<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 20px;font-size:medium;" ><a href="http://drop.io/TheEvolutionofBoth_AMomentary">http://drop.io/TheEvolutionofBoth_AMomentary</a><br /><br />Single from upcoming album, reshbreakingfr<br /><br />coming eventually.<br /><br /><br /></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: 20px;font-size:medium;" ><span class="Apple-style-span" style="line-height: normal; Im putting two albums on here in the near future. First is an EP called "How I Met the Man in the Bunny Mask" and second is a full length called "Rabbit Holes and Whirlwinds".<br /><br />The tracklist for "How I Met the Man in the Bunny Mask":<br />1. Grasping For...<br />2. An Introduction<br />3. Breathing Underwater<br />4. Why I Like Bowling<br />5. Raindrops Keep F4444LL1N on My Head<br />6. An Agreement Between Trees and Streets (Equilibrium)<br />7. Home<br /><br />This EP is about a very meaningful relationship and how it has affected me. It starts out with a prelude, proceeds to meeting and understanding, trips over an absurdity, attempts to find an equilibrium and then stops to breathe. I love this album in concept and in execution.<br /><br />The tracklist for "Rabbit Holes and Whirlwinds":<br />1. Parting the Shades<br />2. Jumping Fences<br />3. Switch<br />4. A Breaking Point<br />5. Ode to a Caffeine Addict<br />6. To Need to Be<br />7. The Great Collapse into Ignorance (Bliss)<br />8. One of Those Whirlwinds<br />9. Creation<br />10. Point A<br />11. Again? Nevermind...<br />12. 1000 Milliseconds<br /><br />So, I decided to write the second album on a whim (with the exceptions of songs four and five). I just sat down and poured out all of my thoughts and feelings over the course of a week. I was able to bring most of these songs to a level of completion that I have never been able to accomplish (and I would describe the sound as full and polished). The nature of these songs is incredibly personal; I attempt to describe my ideas, doubts, and falterings with music. It might be tough to grasp (still no lyrics) but if one listened to it enough one could understand why I tick.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876556047559378836.post-46204656944135629142009-07-08T13:04:00.000-07:002009-07-08T18:25:49.244-07:00Ode to a Caffeine AddictSo, I wrote a song about caffeine.<br /><br />Whenever I drink a cup of coffee, I become crazy as all hell. My mouth runs a mile a minute, I vibrate across rooms, I find everything shiny extremely entertaining, I run like some type of bizarre dinosaur (a velocaraptor on crack?). And then I stop moving.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.archive.org/details.php?identifier=TheEvolutionofBoth-OdetoaCaffeineAddict">This song</a> is about my life, if I were to be addicted to caffeine. Funny enough, a couple of days after I wrote this song I drank a ridiculous (for me) amount of coffee.<br /><br /><embed src="http://www.ourmedia.org/sites/default/files/ia/original/VBR MP3/TheEvolutionofBoth-OdetoaCaffeineAddict/odetoacaffeineaddict.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" width="480" height="15" autoplay="false" controller="true" enablejavascript="true"></embed>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876556047559378836.post-7055749217329232392009-06-18T16:33:00.000-07:002009-06-18T17:43:13.473-07:00Why I Like BowlingSo, you all know the game. You take this big heavy ball (with only three holes?) and you throw it at ten pins, knocking that shit down. <div><br /></div><div>I used to hate bowling. I used to find it boring, painful, and just completely unenjoyable. But once you get in the rhythm of it, its a lot of fun. <a href="http://www.archive.org/details.php?identifier=TheEvolutionofBoth-WhyILikeBowling">This</a> is an expression of why I am now able to enjoy bowling. </div><div><br /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, fantasy; font-size: 12px; color: rgb(49, 53, 26); line-height: 17px; "><embed src="http://www.ourmedia.org/sites/default/files/ia/original/VBR%20MP3/TheEvolutionofBoth-WhyILikeBowling/whyilikebowling.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" width="480" height="15" autoplay="false" controller="true" enablejavascript="true"></embed></span> </div><div><br /></div><div>I love how the two synths play around the same central (and invisible) rhythm at first and eventually come together. Also, there are some pretty cool sounds. </div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876556047559378836.post-27287581552306084632009-06-17T13:03:00.000-07:002009-06-17T15:30:57.717-07:00Raindrops Keep F444LL1N on My HeadNot much to say here, its a song about rain. There is something about summer thunderstorms which I find strangely irresistible. The drums drip a little, the bass drives a lot, and the synth holds a ton of energy. Fast paced, intensely driven, and probably the best song I've written to date.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.ourmedia.org/media/evolution-both-raindrops-keep-f4444ll1n-my-head">Here it is</a>.<br /><br /><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="COLOR: rgb(49,53,26); LINE-HEIGHT: 17pxfont-family:arial;font-size:12;" ><embed pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" src="http://www.ourmedia.org/sites/default/files/ia/original/VBR%20MP3/TheEvolutionofBoth-RaindropsKeepF4444LL1NonMyHead/raindropskeepf4444ll1nonmyhead.mp3" width="480" height="15" type="audio/mpeg" autoplay="false" controller="true" enablejavascript="true"></embed></span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5876556047559378836.post-27231400394140486722009-06-16T22:56:00.000-07:002009-06-17T14:54:25.228-07:00Night EPIts called Night EP, and its about... well, nighttime. Something which is (to me, at least) calming and normalizing in the most interesting way. It is a collection of songs that starts with dusk (didn't know if you would notice), moves into a thunderstorm, spends some time in dreamland and ends with... well, it ends with a suitable ending. This EP is often dark and dirty (I <i>do</i> love it when you can feel the sounds scratch your eardrum), energetic when it needs to be and sometimes almost soothing (in a weird way). The sound is influenced by (but it doesn't really sound like): Acid Girls, autoKratz, Birdy Nam Nam, Metronomy, Ratatat, Shameboy, Tipper, and The Toxic Avenger.<div><div><br /></div><div>Track-list:</div><div><div>1 - Dusk</div><div>2 - A Bat or Two</div><div>3 - Rings Around the Moon</div><div>4 - Summer Air (Electric)</div><div>5 - Flowing into a Dream</div><div>6 - Melting Clocks</div><div>7 - Night Then Morning</div><div>8 - AabcdDcbAbDA</div><div><br /></div><div>Summer Air (Electric):</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 12px; color: rgb(49, 53, 26); line-height: 17px; "><embed src="http://www.ourmedia.org/sites/default/files/ia/original/VBR%20MP3/SummerAir_Electric_/04summerairelectric.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" width="480" height="15" autoplay="false" controller="true" enablejavascript="true"></embed></span></div></div><div><br /></div><div>Rings Around the Moon:</div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial; font-size: 12px; color: rgb(49, 53, 26); line-height: 17px; "><embed src="http://www.ourmedia.org/sites/default/files/ia/original/VBR%20MP3/TheEvolutionofBoth-RingsaroundtheMoon/03ringsaroundthemoon.mp3" pluginspage="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/" width="480" height="15" autoplay="false" controller="true" enablejavascript="true"></embed></span></div><div><br /></div><div><a href="http://www.archive.org/details.php?identifier=TheEvolutionofBoth-NightEP">Here it is</a>, just download the archive file.
